Painting Technique

After experimenting for a while with different drawing and painting techniques during my time at school including crayons, watercolours, charcoal, pen, sanguine, pencil and airbrush, I came to try out oil painting and this has become my favourite way of painting. However, pencil drawings are still present in my day-to-day work, nowadays mainly as sketches.

I use a special type of paper because I paint in great detail and I prefer working on a rigid support and painting on a surface that is only slightly structured. Since I paint a lot and paper does not take up much space, it is the ideal vehicle for my paintings. My paintings are all in small format, either 30 x 40 cm or 40 x 50 cm, and I usually paint from photos.

The time it takes me to finish a painting differs from subject to subject. On average, it takes two to four days, but sometimes longer. The pictures you can see in my gallery originated at different points in my life. While some of them are around ten years old, others date from only recently.
